Many pundits on both sides speak of the ultimate goal of jihadists, as being to return to the 7th Century, when their power was greater and most of the western world recognized. There seems to be this idea that these terrorists are unforgiving of past wrongs done in the name of ancient people against some tribe of some caliphate. I say BUNK! Everyone knows what excuses are, keep it to yourselves. It is hard for me to grasp that a band of neo-Arab princes are ranging throughout the world with hate in their hearts driven by some percieved malfeiscance done to their ancestors by our western Crusaders, or Romans, or Greeks. No, their motives are alterior. Why, you may ask, am I quick to deflect the idea of millenias old hatred? Follow the money trail. Why has this region of the world become so important? Three guesses but the first two do not count. That's right oil. Its why the Nazis coveted it sixty years ago. Its why the British stayed their so long. Its why the economy of the world still...is. The sad fact is that oil is the driving monetary force behind every scumbag terrorist breathing air today. That or pay-off money from Kofi and his crew.
No, it is easy to see the true idealists when excuses are used about age-old, perceived wrong-doings. It is our old nemesis the left. Ever since the eisxties, we have given and the media has given the left power to think they can overthrow an administration's goals. Which in turn are in fact our goals. The left knows this. If they can sway public opinion, and somehow humanize the beast from the east, they can, in their eyes and minds win. They are the true Trafalgarians. (for a reason I use that term read, Vonnegut's
Slaughterhouse Five) They cannot get over the idea that their movement is not creating the same anti-American buzz. They cannot fathom the fact that people do not look back at the vitriol from 1968 and swoon.
The worst part about the left's motives is that the evil in the Persian Gulf knows the American left's tactics, and are more than happy to hop onboard. Why, do you think, is it that Al-Jazeera has become so powerful? Hmmm?
