Cornucopia of Thoughts...
The economy is officially, as of yesterday, in a recession. It actually, according to experts, started last December. Perhaps if we had known then what we know now we would not have bought all those ridiculously priced presents. But...imagine how bad the recession would be now if we curbed our spending then...my head hurts.
With the aforementioned recession, it seems utterly genius of the Governor of NJ to raise tolls as of Dec. 1 on its highways. But, you say it is only $0.25 at the tolls of the A.C. Expressway exits. Well think of it this way. If a worker takes the same exit to work and home every day, then that is $0.50 each day. Simple arithmetic: $2.50 each week or $130.00 a year. And do not even bring up the Expressway main toll being raised a whole $1.00, or $520.00 a year. Could you imagine if the Governor in his unending wisdom tried to sell toll raising by calling it what it actually is...a backdoor tax on NJ's workers. Thanks Dems, does anyone remember Brett Schundler the '05 gubernatorial candidate from the Republican Party who campaigned on the idea of eliminating the tolls on NJ's highways?
Lastly, hope that all gave appropriate thanks this weekend for friends and family...this and every weekend hopefully.
