You thought the O.J. Trial Was a Circus? by Dr.T

So the "Prince of Pennsylvania Avenue" and his band of merry men have decided to hold the 9/11 trial in New York City. Why, it's only fitting that the defendants face their accusers at the place the crime was committed. Yeah, I'm sure that's their ONLY reason. It's amazing and offensive that the people in this adminsitration think we are too stupid to see through their pathetic explanations. The REAL reasons for holding this would-be circus in NYC is to put the Bush administration on trial. And no amount of protestations to the contrary will ever change my mind. These arrogant, power hungry fools are willing to risk national security in order to play to their base. This has to be an all time low for politics as usual. Anyone with a brain knows that Khalid Sheik Mohammed and the rest of his tribe will get the best "read 'em their civil rights" lawyers on the planet. They will use every trick in the book to have vital testimony suppressed and the soapbox for the "brutality of torture" will be the cornerstone of the trial. Arab newspapers will have a field day running headlines out of context and it will stir up our enemies and put our troops in harm's way over there and our own citizens in jeopardy here at home. But not to worry, Eric Holder is sure the terrorists will be convicted. Disgraceful...these cretins are enemy combatants and deserve to be tried by a military tribunal.

Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Kelly are also in agreement with having the trial in NYC. If their decision is based on sentimentality, their reasoning is naive and foolish, my guess is that it is based on something more sinister. Bloomberg is a RINO, the police commissioner is on his payroll...you figure it out.

In the end the families of the victims will suffer and so will the entire country.

Liberty & Democracy by Dr. T

This coming Wednesday I'm slated to deliver a talk on "Liberty & Democracy" at my local Toastmasters club. Here it is for the readers:

I am going to begin this talk with a disclaimer. My opinions are in no way meant to attack a particular voter, ideology or party. Having said that, this talk is meant to re-educate on the subject of Liberty and Democracy..

They were called Radicals, they were called Revolutionaries, they were even called Traitors.
Just a little over 200 years ago the most progressive social experiment in the history of the world was born. Our founders having fled the tyranny of a monarchy knew the perils of an overreaching government. And so they sacrificed and worked tirelessly to establish a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Unprecedented…never heard of before. A democracy where elected representatives would act upon the will of the people. The Declaration of Independence which formally established the United States as a free and sovereign nation was actually years in the making. Not only were the colonists threatened by the mother country of England, but the separate colonies were divided as to how this could be accomplished. It was a perilous and daunting enterprise, much blood was shed and yet remarkably the United States won its sovereignty and its liberty. The preamble to the Constitution bestows upon us certain inalienable rights, namely to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The constitution was painstakingly drawn up to give the individual states the power to govern themselves and this made perfect sense for this is where the people reside and each state has its own uniqueness and requirements. There are only 17 enumerated powers granted to the federal government. This was by design, for the founders knew that a bloated centralized government would succumb to tyranny and that over time the will of the people would diminish. The document was perfectly executed and for quite some time was respected and adhered to.

Over the past 40 years or so, the federal government has grown exponentially. Like an ever growing cancer it has insinuated itself into every aspect of our lives. This has been done incrementally and sadly most people haven’t noticed. If you don’t know your history, your history will be distorted and eventually lost. Washington is a powerful place, and even representatives who arrive with good intentions fall prey to special interests and back room deals. We are at a serious juncture in our country’s history. We now have new radicals, new revolutionaries and dare I say new traitors. There are appointees close to the President who aspire to the likes of Chairman Mao, Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro. They abhor the free market system and capitalism. These very concepts coupled with freedom and rugged individualism has produced entrepreneurs, industrialists, scientists and job creators. These very concepts have enabled the United States to prosper beyond our wildest dreams and to create an unparalleled standard of living.

We are at a crossroads and the choice is ours. We can choose what the founders intended which is limited government, liberty & democracy or we can choose total government.
As the President’s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel boldly said, there isn’t a crisis that can’t be used to advantage. Inheriting a recession has allowed those currently in charge to circumvent the constitution. They have taken over 30% of the nation’s economy through bailouts, and the acquisitions of banks and car companies. Unemployment is at 10% and our deficit has indebted our grandchildren. They now want to take over 1/6th of our economy through government run health care. Over 40 years ago Ronald Regan warned that socialism could be accomplished by using healthcare as a ploy…. If this massive take over by government goes thru it will forever change the face of America. Cradle to grave entitlements thru government don’t work, it has failed everywhere it’s been tried. It saps the spirit and leaves the people dependent on those whose only real desire is power.
Thomas Paine said.” All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”

But you don’t have to take my word for the loss of liberty and democracy that is happening in America today. Dr. Mark Levine is a foremost scholar of constitutional law. I urge everyone here to avail themselves of his latest book…Liberty & Tyranny. Reacquaint yourselves with the document that keeps us free, don’t allow the Constitution to become a memory. Something shelved behind glass for future generations to quizzically stare at. It’s up to us, if we do not change the current course, future historians when writing of the collapse of America as we know it will say that “we were the architects of out own demise”.
