The Gloves Came Off by Dr. T

Well, one could never say that last night's debate was boring! Not quite "fisticuffs" but close. The two men came out swinging early on and at one point got very up close and personal by invading personal space and calling each other out. Candy Crowley as moderator clearly gave Obama the edge by moving things along when things got sticky for him. She also gave the President more time and interrupted Romney 28 times. So much for a neutral moderator...but, then again, we all knew that going in. While the President had definitley awakened from his first debate stupor, he was rude and not factual on big ticket issues, Benghazi being the worst offense. By now everyone who doesn't have his head in some small dark place knows that the President did not label the assault on the embassy in Libya terrorism for a record 12 days and yet he had the audacity to claim that he announced it as a terrorist attack the very next day in the Rose Garden. When Governor Romney called him out on it Crowley said she had to move things along. Another huge win for Romney was calling the President out on his energy policies. Obama boasted about all the drilling that's been taking place and Romney quickly reminded him that the drilling was on "private land" and in fact the government had given out fewer permits than in years past. He also questioned the President, asking if we are doing so much drilling why have gas prices risen from $1.86 to well over $3.00 currently? The President threw back the same old lines...slamming Romney for his 47% remark and his tax policies, claiming they will hurt the middle class. All in all it was a repeat of the claims and rebukes we've heard a thousand times from both candidates but at least this time there was a little action thrown in.
