Let the Games Begin by Dr. T

So let's see...we have Iran with it's finger on "the button", we have Israel with its finger on "the button." We have the commander of our forces in Afghanistan asking for more troop support and our illustrious President went to Copenhagen to trycharming the officials into holding the Olympics in Chicago in 2016. Can you say "Screwed up priorities?" And by the way, it is clear that the world is not as charmed by Obama as he thinks...the nod went to Rio De Janerio.

It seems the President has only spoken to General Stanley McChrystal once in 70 days. Thousands of troops have died in this war and those deaths will surely be in vain if we don't send reinforcements in now. God knows what our landscape will look like by the time 2016 rolls around. In addition to the President's inattention to foreign policy at the most volatile of times, he and his administration along with the Congress are systematically dismantling American society as we know it. Friends and citizens, do you recognize "soft tyranny" when you see it? It has been upon us since the advent of political correctness. Now with the ushering in of this radical administration the aforementioned softness is becoming heavier and soon the yoke of statism will be upon us. This administration has run up unsustainable deficits, they've run up unemployment, caused the collapse of hundreds of small businesses through unreasonable regulation and taxation. They have in a word created "chaos". This is not accidental but by design. Once they have succeeded in totally collapsing the old America, they will create the new America. The irony is that the Democratic party propped up Obama, he was their guy and now that he is President he is slowly rendering the party impotent. How? By appointing over 40 czars who are accountable only to him. By doing so, he has circumvented the Congress and relegated them to mere figureheads. He will continue to strengthen the courts with radical judges who will legislate from the bench the agenda the President wants in place. Soon the executive branch will be all powerful, taking away the checks and balances put into place by our founders. These are not the rantings of a mad woman; if you are a thinker it is easy to connect the dots.

Social Security is on the brink of bankruptcy, Medicare is on the brink of bankruptcy, Amtrack, the post office and any other federally run program is in the red. Now the government proposes to take on health care. The people have made clear their disapproval, the latest poll shows 56% disapprove, still our so called representatives ignore us. Ronald Reagan warned us in the 1970s that socialism will make its way into our society through the take over of our health care. It all seems to be coming true at the same time that Europe has declared their socialism a failure.

Don't let it happen folks...keep the pressure on.

A wound Reopened by Dr. T

September 11, 2001...it's hard to believe that we've reached the eighth anniversary of that devastating day. For me it was like opening an old wound, raw and ugly all over again. Truth be told, I have carried the horror of that day with me ever since the attack. Only someone truly heartless and soulless could forget what happened to America on that day. The images of people hurling themselves from windows 100 stories above the ground because burning steel was at their backs. Thousands of workers fleeing the towers as hundreds of New York's finest rushed into "hell" to save whoever they could. Daylight turned to black as the city was engulfed in smoke and debris. And then the unthinkable, the two towers collapsed sending thousands of our own to a hideous and untimely death. An old wound reopened.

President Obama decided to mark this day not as a day of mourning and rememberance of the nearly 3,000 citizens who lost their lives, but rather as a "day of service." Once again I am inclined to repeat that this man is just not in touch with the American people. This decision is but another attempt to "play down" the war on terror. After all, this is an administration that is more concerned with the "rights" of those who did us harm and who wish to continue to do so. His Attorney General is hellbent on prosecuting CIA operatives who interrogated our enemies. He is hellbent on closing Gitmo and giving these cretins legal representation. And don't give me the moral superiority argument that WE should take the high ground, we should not torture (by the way we didn't). Here's the reality if there are any grown-ups who can take it:
We waterboarded 3, yes, THREE terrorists and they gave up information that thwarted planned hits, thus saving thousands of lives. President Obama's foreign policy consists of his narcissistic belief that his suave demeanor and eloquent speechmaking will win over foreign leaders, enemies as well as allies. Newsflash...it's not working. He needs to toughen up and get out of campaign mode. The threats are as real today as they were on 9/11 and every day our enemies grow bolder. The world is unstable. North Korea is testing it's mettle, Iran is close to having nukes and they are playing nice with Chavez and Putin. Pakistan is a terrorist hotbed and Iraq and Afghanistan are still in play. Israel and Palestine are ready to "push the button".

If I know this, surely President Obama does. His foremost obligation is to protect the citizens of the United States and in order to do so he needs more than a teleprompter.

So What's new? by Dr T

You can take Barack Obama out of Chicago but you can't take "Chicago politics" out of Barack Obama. That's the conclusion I came to after watching the President's healthcare speech to Congress Wednesday night. It was primarily a slam against the opponents. He made numerous references to the opposition, referencing cable networks and politicans alike. He made clear that he will "call out" those that oppose. So much for reaching across the aisle.

His explanation of how he would insure EVERYONE without any increased costs was not believable. He claims that he could raise the revenue by weeding out fraud and waste. The federal government is the "epicenter" of fraud and waste, so you'll excuse me if I discount this initiative. The President also said that there are no death panels...purely semantics; while that phrase certainly is not in the bill, the bill does call for sharp decreases in medicare expenditures in conjunction with counselling for the elderly. Anyone who "thinks" can figure this one out. Just the fact that the government would inject itself into this extremely personal realm is abhorrent. End of life issues are handled among the family, the patient's personal physician and their clergy. The government has no place here. This is not being done out of compassion, it is being done for economics.

The President skipped over tort reform with a mere mention of testing it in a few states. This was simply lip service, the Dems are in too tight with trial lawyers to take any definitive action on this problem. Howard Dean admitted to this when asked about it at a recent town hall.

And finally when the President said no illegals would be covered I screamed "liar" at the TV set. Of course I was in the privacy of my living room, but I can understand how Congressman Wilson let the lie get the better of him. His outburst was disrespectful and he apologized for it but again, he understands the semantics the President uses. While the bill claims that illegals may not apply, there is no mechanism for checking on citizenship status...a loophole that will allow illegals to take advantage of the system. Besides, the President intends to give them all amnesty anyway!

All in all it was the same old, same old of a speech. No real solutions, just generalizations and threats. The President may have appeased his base but the line in the sand is clear. The bottom line is that he refuses to accept the fact that the majority of Americans, while agreeing that there is a need for reform, do not want the government messing with their health care choices.
