A wound Reopened by Dr. T

September 11, 2001...it's hard to believe that we've reached the eighth anniversary of that devastating day. For me it was like opening an old wound, raw and ugly all over again. Truth be told, I have carried the horror of that day with me ever since the attack. Only someone truly heartless and soulless could forget what happened to America on that day. The images of people hurling themselves from windows 100 stories above the ground because burning steel was at their backs. Thousands of workers fleeing the towers as hundreds of New York's finest rushed into "hell" to save whoever they could. Daylight turned to black as the city was engulfed in smoke and debris. And then the unthinkable, the two towers collapsed sending thousands of our own to a hideous and untimely death. An old wound reopened.

President Obama decided to mark this day not as a day of mourning and rememberance of the nearly 3,000 citizens who lost their lives, but rather as a "day of service." Once again I am inclined to repeat that this man is just not in touch with the American people. This decision is but another attempt to "play down" the war on terror. After all, this is an administration that is more concerned with the "rights" of those who did us harm and who wish to continue to do so. His Attorney General is hellbent on prosecuting CIA operatives who interrogated our enemies. He is hellbent on closing Gitmo and giving these cretins legal representation. And don't give me the moral superiority argument that WE should take the high ground, we should not torture (by the way we didn't). Here's the reality if there are any grown-ups who can take it:
We waterboarded 3, yes, THREE terrorists and they gave up information that thwarted planned hits, thus saving thousands of lives. President Obama's foreign policy consists of his narcissistic belief that his suave demeanor and eloquent speechmaking will win over foreign leaders, enemies as well as allies. Newsflash...it's not working. He needs to toughen up and get out of campaign mode. The threats are as real today as they were on 9/11 and every day our enemies grow bolder. The world is unstable. North Korea is testing it's mettle, Iran is close to having nukes and they are playing nice with Chavez and Putin. Pakistan is a terrorist hotbed and Iraq and Afghanistan are still in play. Israel and Palestine are ready to "push the button".

If I know this, surely President Obama does. His foremost obligation is to protect the citizens of the United States and in order to do so he needs more than a teleprompter.

Hello Guru, what entice you to post an article. This article was extremely interesting, especially since I was searching for thoughts on this subject last Thursday.
