Back to Campaign Mode by Dr T

Like a reluctant movie critic forced to watch bad cinema, I sat through the President's endless State of the Union speech. He was, as I expected, "back in campaign mode" and perhaps even more so. After all, if you were on a sinking ship, wouldn't you get your "mojo" on and sprint for a life preserver? By all accounts the numbers are way down for this President, his administration and the Congress. They are in disarray and unfortunately for the President, I don't believe that his speech last night did very much to bolster confidence. He did the usual Bush blame game, he did the ususal three card monte with numbers and projections and he played to his leftist base by promising a pull out of troops from Iraq by August. All predictable and all misguided. Notice that he avoided talking about the administration's decision to Mirandize the Christmas Day terrorist and to hold KSM's trial in NYC. The American people are by and large against these decisions because they lower the bar on national security.

With amazing arrogance, the President challenged the Congress to move forward on healthcare, the very bill that strikes fear and discontent with the American people. The very bill that got Scott Brown elected in MA. It is clear that he perceives healthcare reform as HIS crowning achievement and the folks be damned. We'll get it like it or not. His arrogance was again in full view when he chastised the Supreme Court justices for their latest ruling on campaign finance reform. The President clearly has disdain for the separation of powers. He continued to talk about creating jobs while still pushing for cap and trade, another punitive bill which will cost jobs. He paid lip service by claiming to put a freeze on spending, another sham as his so called "freeze" will simply lock in the elevated spending he has already put in place. This "freeze" is equivilant to waddling up to an all you can eat buffet and ordering a diet soda to wash it down. He mentioned utilizing all sources of energy including off shore drilling; I'll believe it when I see it.
So it's business as usual in the President's world and in the real world the people are just hanging on...but...November looms.

We're Coming For You by Dr. T

Tuesday’s victory in Massachusetts was a victory for the whole country. In an unprecedented election, in the “bluest” of states, the people of that commonwealth sent a message to Washington and to every state in the union. That message is, “We the People still matter”. Martha Coakley reflected the arrogance and entitlement of this administration and of Congress. As a member of the ruling party she thought she could just phone it in, after all, the Democrats had been in power for decades. Now as expected, the White House, in an effort to distance themselves from defeat, have thrown Coakley under the bus as they have done numerous times with others who have become liabilities. In fact, with predictions of her defeat so high, they actually began making excuses the day before the election.

This election should also serve as a wake up call for Republicans. If they want to take back the majority, they have some serious work to do. The town halls of the summer should have been a wake up call for both parties. The people are engaged, we are watching and we are coming for you. There will continue to be shenanigans for sure, but the curtain has been pulled back on the back door deals and unbridled power grabs.

The people of Massachusetts have my gratitude, for they have shown me and the rest of the citizenry that we are not powerless. The elected officials work for us, not the other way around and it’s about time they got the message.

Hell in the blink of an Eye by Dr T

When a natural disaster occurs, such as the devastating earthquake in Haiti, we tend to ask "How can God let this happen?" This event was not orchestrated by God and I believe His tears are flowing for the victims. Natural disasters are just that...natural disasters. Our earth is in constant motion, contracting and expanding all the time. And long after man's footprints have left the earth, these episodes will continue.

What is significant about this disaster is the fact that Haiti, as the poorest country in the western hemisphere, is particularly vulnerable because of it's lack of services and equipment. Truth be told, for those who by a miracle have survived, their standard of living was not much higher before the quake. The responsibility for this rests solely on the shoulders of Haiti's corrupt government. That almost an entire population had been made to survive on approximately $2.00 a day is beyond disgraceful. Am I making this political? You bet! We citizens of the United States are constantly being ridiculed because of our affluent lifestyle. When did freedom, innovation and individual success become evil? When a society is free to prosper everyone benefits. When corrupt governments care only for themselves, it is fitting that their palaces be among the rubble.

My heart goes out to the people of Haiti. Thankfully the countries of the world are responding. But in the end, when the rubble is cleared, and the survivors made stable, Haiti will return to what it was before, and that is a very sad commentary.

A look back and a few predictions by Dr. T

Happy New Year Friends! I'm sure you will agree with me when I say that I am not sorry to see 2009 go. The United States was dealt a blow of epic proportions on January 20th 2009. Since that fateful day, patriotic citizens near and far have been nauseated by the arrogant shenanigans of this President, his administration and the Congress. The Constitution was ratified in 1789 and we have lived as a free people for the past 220 years. Our Constitution is bleeding out and dying a slow death. Greedy and drunk with power, these politicans are hell-bent on socializing the country and redistributing wealth from the doers to the non-doers. I am smart enough to know that the decisions being made to weaken this country are by design. From the takeover of our economy (banks/car companies) to a massive increase in our debt (787 billion stimulus pkg. which only stimulated contributors to the campaign) to the attempted take over of our health care system (which will not benefit the public but will enslave them) the radical ideas and policies of those in power have been evil, punitive and dangerous. This adminitration is not concerned with their paramount responsibility which is to protect the citizens. They have decided to try the 9/11 mastermind in NYC...allowing him the rights heretofore afforded only to legal citizens, they have decided to allow the terrorist who attempted to kill a plane full of people on Christmas Day to lawyer up and be tried civilly. They refuse to call the attacks on us a WAR. They are painfully naive. The President has appointed Czars who have radical leftist views; these folks are not accountable to Congress and are in a postion to regulate our lives. All of these things and more have been done in only the first year of this President's term.

Now for the predictions: I believe that 2010 will be the year of the people. After all the afronts I've outlined and many more that I haven't mentioned, the citizens have been pushed to the wall. I've often said that if you continually poke a person in the eye, eventually he is going to poke you back. People are becoming more aware of the lies, the shams, the deceit that is being perpetrated upon them. I think they are ready to take the country back. At least I hope so, for we are at a critical juncture - it is now or never. If those currently in power are allowed to continue their tyrannical reign, America as we know it will be forever lost. Now the take- over could come in the form of a landslide election of Republicans in 2010, however, this is not a sure thing. If the Republicams do not get back to their conservative roots they will lose again. What could emerge is a third party, it seems this time in our history is ripe for it. Either way this is what must be done:
We need the USA to be energy independent...we have the resources here in our own country to reap enough oil and gas to keep us running for the next 200 years...tell the environmentalists to pound dirt! We need to lower taxes across the board to spur the economy. Bailouts are not the answer, they inflate our debt and they haven't increased any jobs in the private sector. Remember how Ronald Regan turned the economy around? This is what works. We need to protect the American people, our borders, our ports, our airports; we must do whatever necessary to preserve life. We must get rid of the corruption and no longer tolerate political correctness, liberalism, the ACLU, the SEIU and the like. This President campaigned on not allowing business as usual, he said no earmarks, he said transparency, accountability. He's done the opposite in the most arrogant manner imaginable.
It's now or never folks...let your representatives know what you expect of them.
