Of the People,By the People, For the People by Dr. T

And so it was that just a little over 200 years ago a nation was created; a nation that would be "of the people, by the people and for the people". And for a little while it worked. Countries much older than us crumbled under the weight of their own oppression. But we were different, we were the "progressives";we knew better, we invented a democracy. Looking back I'm almost giddy at the thought of it. A nation where people are free of religious persecution, a nation where all people are free to pursue their happiness and success. At least I am old enough to remember that this is how it truly was, I lived it, I saw it first hand. Too bad it didn't last. For decades the tide has been turning; I've been watching, have you? Little by little the freedoms have been chipped away, little by little the weight of government has become heavier. Of the people, by the people and for the people has been replaced...now it's big business and big government that run the show. Neither party gives a damn about "the people", they only give a damn about themselves. We've only ourselves to blame, we allowed it, we gave "them" the power and now we are led like cattle to the slaughter, as each day the hard working, tax paying, flag flying citizens of this country take it on the chin.

What is it going to take before more than a handful of us see the scams being perpetrated upon us each and every day? Our borders are a sieve, leaving us vulnerable to terrorism, disease, drugs and violence. Our politicans care more for votes than for the safety of the citizens they swore to protect. The "CAFTA" agreement has made its way through the congress which means more American businesses and jobs will leave our shores for greener pastures in some third world country. When the rest of us are left to say "Welcome to Walmart", how will their inflated taxes be paid? Each and every day we are sold out by a government that is an aberration of the government of our founders. How they must be spinning!
Don 't think for one minute that I am against my country. It is the evil that governs it that I am against. I'm a true patriot, I love this country and I love the tenets and values it was founded upon. That is why I'm hurt to the core at what it has become. Perhaps I won't see its complete demise in my own lifetime, but what of the generation after me? What is in store for them? I shudder to think of it.

Real Quick...

I do not know why I do it to myself. I get drawn in by the quick little blurb on the homepage of yahoo. I was reading a story about a corruption trial of two councilmen, one in San Diego and one in Clark county, Nevada. It really is of no importance to anything, two bad guys getting caught. The news is found, I guess, in the fact that the councilman from San Diego is the acting mayor in his first day on the job. But, the thing that stands out to me is that the story is about two democrats, and if one were wondering about their party affiliation, one would have to wade through 14 paragraphs of a 15 paragraph story just to find that out. Does anyone out there think that if the two culprits were Republicans that that fact would not have been stated in the headline...in bold letters...and italicized...with neon green font...etc.

The terrorists or us...who are the real Trafalgarians?

Many pundits on both sides speak of the ultimate goal of jihadists, as being to return to the 7th Century, when their power was greater and most of the western world recognized. There seems to be this idea that these terrorists are unforgiving of past wrongs done in the name of ancient people against some tribe of some caliphate. I say BUNK! Everyone knows what excuses are, keep it to yourselves. It is hard for me to grasp that a band of neo-Arab princes are ranging throughout the world with hate in their hearts driven by some percieved malfeiscance done to their ancestors by our western Crusaders, or Romans, or Greeks. No, their motives are alterior. Why, you may ask, am I quick to deflect the idea of millenias old hatred? Follow the money trail. Why has this region of the world become so important? Three guesses but the first two do not count. That's right oil. Its why the Nazis coveted it sixty years ago. Its why the British stayed their so long. Its why the economy of the world still...is. The sad fact is that oil is the driving monetary force behind every scumbag terrorist breathing air today. That or pay-off money from Kofi and his crew.
No, it is easy to see the true idealists when excuses are used about age-old, perceived wrong-doings. It is our old nemesis the left. Ever since the eisxties, we have given and the media has given the left power to think they can overthrow an administration's goals. Which in turn are in fact our goals. The left knows this. If they can sway public opinion, and somehow humanize the beast from the east, they can, in their eyes and minds win. They are the true Trafalgarians. (for a reason I use that term read, Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five) They cannot get over the idea that their movement is not creating the same anti-American buzz. They cannot fathom the fact that people do not look back at the vitriol from 1968 and swoon.
The worst part about the left's motives is that the evil in the Persian Gulf knows the American left's tactics, and are more than happy to hop onboard. Why, do you think, is it that Al-Jazeera has become so powerful? Hmmm?

London Bridge is Falling Down by Dr. T

When the next wave of historians and scholars come together to discuss why "western civilization fell", they will surely determine that "we were the architects of our own demise". British Prime Minister Tony Blair's response to the brutal London bombings was as pathetic and sniveling a speech as I've ever heard. If one listened close enough, one might have heard his knees knocking; it's a wonder he didn't soil himself.

It's true that he has committed his troops and they have fought beside us in Afghanistan and Iraq but the luke warm stance taken after an attack on British soil sends too soft a message. England is as immersed in liberalism and political correctness as the U.S...This erroneous mindset is paving the way for our destruction. Something is clearly up side down when a monument of the Ten Commandments CANNOT be displayed in our country because it may offend a non Christian. Something is clearly wrong when a $3 million dollar Muslim mosque will be built for inmates of a British prison when a multi denominational chapel already exists. There clearly is something wrong when my 86 year old white haired mother- in-law is body searched at the airport but middle eastern passengers are sent right through. We've been bending so far backwards it's amazing we can stand erect at all. Until logic and clear thinking prevail, attacks such as the one in London will continue. People must fully understand that there is a link between 9/11 and ALL the cells and terrorist groups in the entire Middle East. Evil is among us and evil must be dealt with. Appeasement will not work unless, of course, we wish to surrender. Human nature will not change, thus the eternal struggle of good over evil will always be present. It is wise to know history... Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Bin Laden, Hussein, the names change but the evil doesn't.

The choice is ours, we can be strong and prevail or lay down and seal our own fate.

And Now Your House by Dr. T

In its relentless attempts to undermine the Constitution and trample liberty the Supreme Court delivered the coup de grace today. I'm still reeling. One of the last vestiges of the American dream is now threatened. The right to private property has been the most coveted of our liberties since the inception of this nation. The founders understood that striving for and attaining assets was key to maintaining a truly free society. The 5th ammendment to the constitution safeguards against confiscation of private property for public use without just compensation. The concept of "eminent domain" which is the right of a government to appropriate private property for public use has long been established, ie. for roads, hospitals, schools etc. However it was never intended to be used for "private" enterprise.

Now these "keystone judges" have determined that eminent domain extends to the private sector. In a nutshell, my friends, your homes can now be taken to make room for a shopping mall or office complex. After all, the public will be using it right?
In a stunning decision the court, seeing potential tax dollars, has essentially pulled the rug out from under American citizens.

I have no doubt that if you took a poll the consensus among Americans would be that their homes and their property are directly behind their loved ones in terms of importance. We work hard to achieve a home of our own, we work hard to maintain a home, it is an extension of ourselves. We pay exorbitant taxes for the privilege of keeping our home.

It's just been reported that Justice O'Connor has stepped down. You will now see the fight of your lives over it. One need only have a little foresight. If Hillary is elected in '08 and more left leaning judges are appointed to the bench, America as we know it will cease to exist.

"Oh doctor, isn't that a bit extreme?" If only it was.
