Mr. Smith & Me by Dr. T

Last night I watched "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington." That wonderfully delightful old film about a genuine good guy maligned and stepped on by a political machine, only to hold his ground through faith in a flawed system, but one worth saving.

For many months now I have felt like Mr. Smith. I'm an honest person who recognizes the perils of unbridled power and corruption. And, like Mr. Smith, I will not yield. It is wrong for bills to be passed in the dead of night. It is wrong for trillions of dollars to be spent which will leave our children and grandchildren drowning in debt. It is wrong for the government to acquire private companies and to fire CEOs at will and to cap salaries. It is wrong to saddle our citizens with the yoke of socialism.

I will not yield because I have faith, as did Mr. Smith, that the citizens of this great nation know about principles and truth and they will make their voices heard to preserve the Constitution and the liberties therein for the good of us all.
