Throughout our short history, there have been good Presidents and not such good Presidents. But since this nation's inception, all our Presidents have loved their country. All,that is, but our current President. Barack Obama's disdain for his country has been on display since his election. And if one knows where to look, his ideology can be traced much further back to his indoctrination in Hawaii and later at Harvard, to his associations with radicals during his college years and as a community organizer. His associations with William Ayers and Jeremiah Wright, his pastor of 20 years. During his campaign these associations were downplayed, the mainstream media were all heavily invested in his victory. Now six months into his presidency, the veneer is wearing thin and folks are beginning to see the man behind the teleprompter. In his trips abroad, he has never sung the praises of his country, but instead has chosen to apologize for it. In his latest news conference on healthcare, he never once mentioned the exemplary care our health professionals provide to our citizens each and every day, whether they are insured or not. Over the years my husband has had serious health issues and at each juncture, his care has been outstanding. If we lived any place other than here, the outcome would have been very different. Barack Obama will never convince me that our system is broken. Could our system use some tweaking? Of course, no system is perfect. But show me Americans leaving the U.S. for healthcare in another country. On the contrary, people from socialized countries come here every day to access our system, for they know that if they wait at home, they will die. Make no mistake, the President's reform of our healthcare has nothing to do with our well being but everything to do with control. If he and the Congress succeed in pushing through a nationalized system, they will control every aspect of our lives...what we eat/drink, how much exercise we do/what our habits are. We will be monitored and rationed, our healthcare will be given or taken away at the will of the government. This President is all about change, but his ideology is the antithesis of the true American spirit. "Individual rights," the cornerstone of our democracy, is not in his lexicon. He is a statist who looks upon the population as drones working for a collective. In the short time we have been in existence, we have accomplished more than any country on the planet. We are made of flesh and blood like any other human beings but our gift of freedom has allowed us to use our individual talents to pursue our own paths, to invent, to educate, to become industrialists, scientists, doctors and entrepreneurs. Because of our freedom, our country prospered and for decades it has led the world through innovation and generosity. All of these accomplishments are not acknowledged by our President, and if these truths are absent from his heart, his leadership will change the face of America. I have no doubt that some folks will condemn me for speaking against the President; many of them will be the same people who vilified our former President. I'm thick skinned...my allegiance is to my country and to those who fought and died to preserve our liberty.
